Some Common Uses: The whole plant, but especially the root, is antiseptic, diuretic, and tonic.  It is used to treat diarrhea, dysentery, irritable bowel syndrome, kidney complaints, and a wide range of other symptoms.  It can be used topically for wounds, vaginal discharge and used as rinse in the mouth for sores.
