Family: Labiatae

Common Names: Horseweed, Richweed, Richleaf, Knob-Root, Knobweed, Horsebalm, Hardback, Heal-all, Knot-Root...

Some Common Uses: primarily for treatment and prevention of kidney stones and gravel in the urinary system and gallbladder, hence the name “stone root”.  It also has properties for a diuretic.  The American Indians used the herb for treating wounds and brewed tea to be used as a general tonic, a headache remedy and as a laxative.  The leaves can be used as a poultice for bruises, sores, cuts and wounds and can be gargled for sores in the mouth.
