Family: Anacardiaceae Some Common Names: fragrant sumac, aromatic sumac, skunkbush, sweet sumach... Some Common Uses: root bark is used as an astringent and diuretic. The leaves have also been used in the treatment of colds, stomach aches and bleeding. The root bark has been used for treatment of diarrhea and dysentery. It can be used externally for skin sores and rashes. There have been some studies that show some success in treating late onset of diabetes.
