Family: Acoraceae Common Names: Cinnamon sedge, Flagroot, Gladdon, Myrtle Flag, Myrtle grass, Myrtle sedge, sweet cane, sweet root and sweet rush... Some Common Uses: aphrodisiac added to wine as a stimulant. Coughs, analgesic for the relief of toothache or headache, oral hygiene to cleanse and disinfect teeth, and to fight the effects of fatigue. A tea for bowel problems, and rubbed the chewed root on the skin just to improve their general health. In Biblical times the root was known as the “holy anointing oil”...
