Some Common Uses: pioneers used it to cure rattlesnake bites, coughs, toothaches, stomach upsets and to aid in childbirth. Today the plant is known for its properties as an antidote, anti-inflammatory, diuretic, expectorant, febrifuge, stimulant and tonic.  The plant contains artistolochic acid which stimulates white blood cells and speeds healing of wounds.
