Family: Rosaceae Common Names: Virginian prune, black cherry, black choke, choke cherry, and rum cherry... Some Common Uses: Historically used for tea from the inner bark to ease labor pains, diarrhea and lung problems. Some also used it for dysentery, and hemorrhoids. Today the wild cherry is used as an anti-tussive, expectorant, mild sedative, astringent, digestive bitter and tonic and for ailments of the stomach.
