Common Names: Canada Snakeroot, American wild ginger, serpentaria, asaro...

Some Common Uses: Historically used as a contraceptive, and to treat colds, sore throats, nervous conditions, and cramps.  It can be used in a poultice on sores. Other medicinal treatments using ginger root are as a diuretic, antibiotic, antiasthmatic, antitumor, salve, irritant, stimulant, and poultice, expectorant and as a tonic for the stomach.
