Raceme An inflorescence having stalked flowers arranged singly along an elongated unbranched axis, as in the lily of the valley. Resinous 1. full of or containing resin Rhizome A horizontal, usually underground stem that often sends out roots and shoots from its nodes. Also called rootstalk, rootstock. Sessile 1. Botany. attached by the base, or without any distinct projecting support, as a leaf issuing directly from the stem.
